Waiting on Wednesday #2

Waiting on Wednesday #2

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re anticipating.

For my 2nd Wow I picked:

 Title: Endure (Defy #3)

Author: Sara B. Larson

Publisher: Scholastic Press

Publication Date: January/5/2016

Summary (From Goodreads):

The remarkable third novel in Sara B. Larson's bestselling Defy series!

At last, Alexa and King Damian are engaged to be married. But their lives are far from safe. The kingdom of Antion is under siege, and Rylan is a prisoner of the enemy. Even worse, Alexa remains at the mercy of the evil Dansiian Rafe, who controls her mind and can force Alexa to kill or harm Damian at any moment. Despite this, Alexa is determined to rescue Rylan, which soon leads her far from Damian and deep into enemy territory.

When she arrives, what awaits her is deadlier than anything she could have ever imagined: an army of black sorcerers, and a horrifying plot to destroy the world as Alexa knows it. Will she be able to gather the strength to free herself, protect the love of her life, and save the land? Will there ever be true peace?

Acclaimed author Sara B. Larson has woven a stunning, romantic, and evocative finale to the Defy trilogy, that is sure to leave readers breathless until the very last page.

                 Goodreads|Amazon

Thoughts: First off, I've ALWAYS hated finishing the last book in a series, saga, trilogy, etc. So yes, I'm excited to finally get all my questions answered, but at the same time I ALMOST don't want to read it. I know the moment I get my hands on this baby, I won't be able to put it down though. This trilogy really has become something great, and I know Sara will complete it with a bang!
p.s. Alexa is a wonderful badass.

Ship it Sunday #3

Ship it Sunday #3
(SIS)

Hello Blogger friends, Welcome to the Third official Ship it Sunday! For those of you who haven't seen my previous posts, I created Ship it Sunday for the purpose of talking about our Ships. I would imagine that 99% of us know what a ship is. But for the unfortunate souls who don’t, here’s the definition: ship  (Yes, I got this from Urbandictionary.com, sue me).

N: Short for romantic relationship, popularized in fanfiction circles.

V: To endorse a romantic relationship.

N: I see a 'ship developing between Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

V: I ship Ron/Hermione

Point of Ship It Sunday:

We all have ships. I know I use I ship it for just about everything including chips with cheese. I thought that we could have Sunday dedicated to our lovely character ships though. Every Sunday we can talk about different ships, little ships, dying ships, ships we wish existed, and ENORMOUS ships. Point is Ships. I want this to be an interactive post, PLEASE comment on your opinions of the ship! I promise I wont throw stones at you, even if your opinion is different from mine.  Hell, you might not even ship them! That is perfectly okay! I would love to hear what you have to say! Oh, and there will probably be spoilers in the post, so if you have not read the book that we are talking about that Sunday, please dont continue reading the post! Go read the book!

NOW LET THE SHIPPING BEGIN!

For this Ship it Sunday I chose: Alex and Aiden From The Covenant Series By the Amazing Jennifer Armentrout

I just need you guys to understand that I LOVE Jennifer, she could write a story about oranges and I would still love it.
So ALEX and Aiden are one of my BIGGEST ships (Right next to Clary and Jace, of course).

Reasons to ship Alex and Aiden:

·      Hello, one of the best forbidden romances of all time, the entire time they couldn’t be together was just another reason why you wanted them to be together.
·      Aiden’s not Seth. Gosh, I LOVE Seth, I really do, just NOT with Alex.  Aiden and Alex work far better together, they actually had a real connection, not some Apollyon one.
·      THEY ARE SUPREME BADASSES. So, Alex = BADASS. Aiden = Badass….. Together…Holy Wow. Its like the universe is exploding from there level of basassery.

The song I picked for my ship:

Saving Grace by The Maine (And yes, this song was in the book.)
Now I’ve always been a MAJOR fan of The Maine so when Jennifer put one of their songs in the book I was officially ready to declare my love.

Here are the lyrics:

I walk the tight rope,
On my way home,
You're my backbone.
I know you're somewhere close behind me.

I walk the fault line,
In a dirty field in the springtime.
I feel the wind start to remind me

Of you (you)
And the sweet talk
On the sidewalk
It's true (true)
All know is...

All we have is what's left today.
Hearts so pure in this broken place.

'Cause we are, we are, we are
Who we are, we are, we are.
Lovers lost in space,
We're searching for our saving grace.

And I still remember
How your lips taste
On holidays.
You leave in December,
What can I do to make you stay?

'Cause we won't fade away
We'll find peace while other change
And I know you're somewhere close behind me

And it's true (true)
Oh, the sweet sound in the background
It's you (you)
All I know is

All we have is what's left today.
Hearts so pure in this broken place.

'Cause we are, we are, we are
Who we are, we are, we are.
Lovers lost in space,
We're searching for our saving grace.

Oh yeah...
We're searching for our saving grace.
Oh yeah...

Keep on searching
Keep on searching
Keep, keep, keep, keep

Keep on searching
Keep on searching
Keep, keep, keep, keep

I walk the tightrope,
You're my way home,
You're my backbone.
You'll always be here right beside me.

All we have is what's left today.
Hearts so pure in this broken place.

'Cause we are, we are, we are
Who we are, we are, we are.
Lovers lost in space
We're searching for our saving grace.

People, my FEELS right now. This song is so incredibly perfect for Alex and Aiden. They have ALWAYS been there for each other, ALWAYS.
They were constantly searching for a way to be together and finish all this nasty war business… AKA searching for their Saving Grace. AHHH.
Questions: Do you ship Alex and Aiden? Did you like there ending in the Covenent Series? Are you a Seth fan?

Welp Guys, thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to comment your opinion.

Stay Drunk…on Books,

Steph

Waiting on Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re anticipating.

For my very first Waiting on Wednesday I picked the book :

Title: Every Last Breath (The Dark Elements #3)

   Author: Jennifer Armentrout

 Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Publication Date: July/28/2015

Summary (from Goodreads):

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes and Nobles

Thoughts:
Guys, I can't fully explain to you how excited I am for this book. I want to know who Layla ends up with (Please be Roth). I love these characters and I know Jen is going to end it in a fabulous way because she hasn't let me down.
Plus, guys, we FINALLY get to meet Thumper. YAY! Bring it on!!

Stay Drunk...on Books,
Steph

A Court of Thorns and Roses

A Court of Thorns and Roses

By: Sarah J. Maas
Rating: 4.5 wine glasses

Hello Readers,
I just finished reading A Court of Thorns and Roses, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t just want Heir of Fire pages all over my wall (Check out my recent blog post on Heir of Fire), no, I want EVERYTHING Sarah J. Maas writes all over my wall.  This author has yet to fail in writing a book that doesn’t blow my mind, and honestly I don’t think she ever will. Sarah is easily in my top five favorite authors and she definitely deserves to be there.

So, we all know the plot line for Beauty and the Beast. Big monster takes girl, has to make her fall in love to break the curse, blah blah. Yes, it’s a Classic, but Sarah doesn’t just stick to the basics. She adds so much of her own flare and style that half the time you’re like “ Wait, I thought the beauty and the beast plot line was predictable  ”…. NOT.
And the only reason why its not so predictable is because Sarah wrote this bad baby, and Sarah doesn’t follow the rules, which makes her supreme.

But, not only are you thrown into an amazing plot, the characters and world building are so freaking on point you’ll be lucky not to stab yourself.  You are introduced to a whole new world: the faerie world.  Sarah has a way of creating a world that is not beautiful in the simple sense, but achingly beautiful. The amount of detail and thought that went into this world is present in every page.
The characters will have you rooting for them in no time, especially Ferye.  She is such a strong MC, one that I know I latched onto from the get go of the story.  You will swoon for the male leads, even the ones that aren’t even meant to be love interests.  The adventure is never ending, and the romance is everything and more.

Make sure to pick this one up; Sarah j. Maas isn’t someone you want to ignore.

A Court of Thorns and Roses will take you for one hell of a ride, and personally I can’t wait to get back on for the next one.

Stay Drunk....on Books,
Steph
