Feature and Follow #2

Feature and Follow Friday #2 – Featured Blogger

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee at parajunkee.com and Alison at alisoncanread.com. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community.  If you’re a Newbie WELCOME!!! But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other blogs also. I follow you, you follow me.

General rules:

- Follow the Feature and Follow Hosts (Parajunkee and Alison Can Read)

 - Follow the Featured Bloggers (P.S. I’m a Featured Blogger!!)

 - Put your Blog name and URL in the Linky thing.

- Follow, Follow, Follow as many as you can. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Don't just follow! Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say 'hi'

Hi Everyone!!

It’s an honor to be a Featured Blogger, especially since this is only my second time! (About time the Irish in me started kicking in!)

When did you start blogging?

I just started blogging a little more than a month ago, yes I know Newbie to the extreme. I’m getting the hang of it though. J
What is your favorite part of book blogging?

So far, I am in love with the community. I am a very social person so it’s just wonderful to be a part of something bigger. It’s also interesting knowing some people you are meeting are half way across the world.
What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I’m definitely YA all the way. If it’s YA I will read it. I prefer fantasy and paranormal YA, but I don’t mind contemporary. As long as there is action and romance somewhere in the book, I’m down.
What is your favorite book(s)?

I really don’t know how some people are able to straight up answer this question. I definitely don’t have one favorite, but I do have authors whose books go on the INSTANT-READ-LIST.  Jennifer Armentrout and Cassandra Clare are instant buys. I LOVE all of their series. When they have a new book coming out, I don’t even need to read the synopsis, I want it.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

I would say finally feeling accepted, because most people think I’m crazy because I love reading books. I get THAT look (The judgment look) whenever I tell someone I like to read. I embrace my love for reading, but THAT look never really goes away. Being a part of book blogging just tells you that there are other people who love reading, and its okay to like something that most people don’t. Thanks guys for the love! *HUGS*

Now the question for this week is:

What is the biggest city you live near (or interesting landmark)? Show us a postcard picture.

The biggest city that I have near me is Miami, Fl. PARTAYYY CITY J

Thanks for stopping by!

Don’t forget to participate and answer this weeks question.

Ship It Sunday (SIS)

Hey guys, I thought that I would come up with my own meme that I could do every Sunday, or every other Sunday, depending on how busy I am. Point is Welcome to Ship It Sunday! I would imagine that 99% of us know what a ship is. But for the unfortunate souls who don’t, here’s the definition: ship  (Yes, I got this from Urbandictionary.com, sue me).

N: Short for romantic relationship, popularized in fanfiction circles.

V: To endorse a romantic relationship.

N: I see a 'ship developing between Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

V: I ship Ron/Hermione

Now I can explain the point of Ship It Sunday! We all have ships. I know I use “I ship it” for just about everything including chips with cheese. I thought that we could have Sunday dedicated to our lovely character ships though. Every Sunday we can talk about different ships, little ships, dying ships, ships we wish existed, and ENORMOUS ships. Point is Ships. I want this to be an interactive post, PLEASE comment on your opinions of the ship! I promise I won’t throw stones at you, even if your opinion is different from mine.  Hell, you might not even ship them! That is perfectly okay! I would love to hear what you have to say! Oh, and there will probably be spoiler in the post, so if you have not read the book that we are talking about that Sunday, please don’t continue reading the post! Go read the book!
description

So for the first ever Ship it Sunday, I picked the Lovely Raffe and Penryn from Angelfall and World After by Susan E.e.

(If you have not read the Angelfall series I suggest you go do that right now, because it is absolutely marvelous.)

Here are some reasons to ship Raffe and Penryn (if you don’t already):

·         Well that can’t be together so that means I REALLY want them together. Forbidden romance be damned.

·         They obviously like each other, it’s apparent in the way they act when they’re together. Raffes got that whole “I want you, but can’t have you” vibe coming off of him in tsunami waves and Penryn is just as bad.

·         She makes him a better angel, Raffe was never a bad angel in the first place, but he’s willing to break more rules for her. (He’s just not break the one rule I want him to, BE WITH PENRYN DANG IT!)

·         Oh, and let’s not forget they totally kick ass when they are together, I’m talking major ass kickage. It’s pretty sweet.

OH, and I found the PERFECT song for Raffe by The Cab! Here are the lyrics, but the song is worth checking out! I love it!

                                    Angel With a Shotgun

Get out your guns, battle's begun,
are you a saint, or a sinner?
If love's a fight, then I shall die,
with my heart on a trigger.

They say before you start a war,
you better know what you're fighting for.
Well baby, you are all that I adore,
if love is what you need, a soldier I will be.

I'm an angel with a shotgun,
fighting 'til the war's won,
I don't care if heaven won't take me back.
I'll throw away my faith, babe, just to keep you safe.
Don't you know you're everything I have?
..and I, wanna live, not just survive, tonight.

Sometimes to win, you've got to sin,
don't mean I'm not a believer.
..and major Tom, will sing along.
Yeah, they still say I'm a dreamer.

They say before you start a war,
you better know what you're fighting for.
Well baby, you are all that I adore,
if love is what you need, a soldier I will be.

I'm an angel with a shotgun,
fighting 'til the war's won,
I don't care if heaven won't take me back.
I'll throw away my faith, babe, just to keep you safe.
Don't you know you're everything I have?
..and I, wanna live, not just survive, tonight.

ooooohhhhhhhh, ooooooohhhhh whoa whoa oooh whoa

I'm an angel with a shotgun..
fighting 'til the war's won..
I don't care if heaven won't take me back..

I'm an angel with a shotgun,
fighting til' the war's won,
I don't care if heaven won't take me back.
I'll throw away my faith, babe, just to keep you safe.
Don't you know you're everything I have?
(I'm an angel with a shotgun)
..and I, want to live, not just survive, tonight.
(Live, not just survive)

..and I'm gonna hide, hide, hide my wings tonight.

They say before you start a war,
you better know what you're fighting for.
Well baby, you are all that I adore,
if love is what you need, a soldier I will be.

Side comment: Don’t you guys feel like there wasn’t much Raffe and Penryn time in World After!? I was completely disappointed in the lack of time they had together! Susan E.e. has to make up for that in the third book!

Do you guys think Raffe and Penryn will last if they finally get together? Personally, my answer is yes, because I strongly love these characters, and I really would die if my ship went down. UGH.
Alright so there is my Ship it Sunday! I hope you enjoyed! PLEASE comment your views on the Ship! I WANT opinions! J

About Me/Contact

About me: Hello Everyone! I’m Steph! Welcome to ‘I am Simply a Book Drunkard’.  I just graduated from Loyola University of Maryland with an English degree and a Writing minor (so I was doing a lot of reading and writing just not any 'fun' books). *fingers crossed that none of my professors read this*. Anyways, I love books, and you're probably here because you love books, too. So, here are some fun facts about myself because I like bullet points.

  •        Well, I like bullet points, but you already know that.

  •          I cry more from laughter then sadness.

  •        I LOVE ly words, and just strange words in general.

  •         Cassandra Clare, Jennifer Armentrout, and Sarah J. Maas take the cake for my favorite authors.

  •           I’m half Canadian and half American. (But I live in America, so no eh’s for me).

  •         All Time Low is my all time favorite band. (See what I did there). I’m also a big fan of: The Maine, Harry Styles, Sara Bareilles, Taylor Swift, Jon Bellion, Maggie Rodgers, and Ben Rector. There are plenty others, but I know you’d rather read a book than a list of musical artists I find interesting and talented.

  •          I believe passion is extremely important.

  •         I prefer books to E-readers. (There’s just something about a real book.)

  •         I read YA 95% of the time. (2% =Classics, 3%= nonfiction)

Contact me You can email me at iamsimplyabookdrunkard@gmail.com  I will respond to every email. I only read YA. I will accept reviews only if it is YA. I also have a twitter that you can reach me at booklife33

This weeks question: What is your favorite TV series that you can watch over and over again on Netflix?

Gosh, I'm stuck between Lost and Sherlock. Both so wonderfully addicting but I’m going to have to go with Sherlock!

(I’m sure Moriarty is pleased with my decision.)

Vesper

Hello to the lovely person reading this right now. This review is kinda me bashing this book and yes I know, I should look at the positives. I TRIED. I really did, but its just not happening. So  instead of calling it bashing the book, we will just say I'm warning you to NEVER EVER-even if its the last book on earth-pick up this book. PLEASE. So without further Ado (Ado really is a funky word) my WARNING to you. :)
Vesper
By: Jeff Sampson
Rating: 2 Wine Glasses (I'm being nice here)
Lets just take a second to appreciate this cover, because it is the only thing I actually liked about this book. Its BEAUTIFUL. It has the mysterious swirling blood (yeah, kinda creepy, but it adds to the cover) and some chick who's face you can't see because she in shadow (Which just adds to the NEED TO KNOW factor) Point being, awesome cover. Now the book, not so much.

This book was ehh.. it had a really great beginning, and I was thinking "Wow this could actually be a really great series!!" Well obviously I was lying to myself.
Once I got to page 70 somewhere around there well it just sunk like a rock, or an anchor(preferably something extremely heavy). It just plummeted straight down. It was this constant, Oh Emily becomes crazy night time Emily and it just got boring. OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Plus I didn't like Daytime Emily that much and I am very much a geek lover sooo it must've been because she was just a boring-suck-the-fun-out-of-everything-geek. Obviously not my type of person. Now the nighttime version of Emily was just as bad for me, sure she could kick some serious butt and I do like my douse of butt whipping but that wasn't enough for me. She was just to insane and over the top, plus she did stupid things the WHOLE time. Yeah I know the book called it "fearlessness" but personally I would prefer the term stupid.
Now the ending was better, a little less repetitive and became a tad more interesting. Though it was not enough to redeem the whole book. I think that there was potentially for a really great story here.  I really wish it was a better book. oh well.

City of Heavenly Fire

City of Heavenly Fire
By: (THE ONE AND ONLY) Cassandra Clare
Rating: 5 Wine Glasses

Ahhh....so this is it. Its hard to imagine that this series is done. Whenever you finish a book series you can't help but wonder, what the freak am I going to do now? For me finishing the Mortal Instruments had me like "WHATTTT THE FREAK IN HELL DO I DO WITH MY USELESS LIFE NOW?" So yes, writing this review pains me in ways that no book should, because "to love is to destroy" and I have been utterly destroyed.
Before I started City of Heavenly Fire, I WAS 100% Positive I was going to have my heart BROKEN, SHATTERED, AND BEATEN TO A PULP.
(this is Cassandra Clare after all) She LOVESS causing pain. So I was ready to have my heart run over by a bunch of 2 ton MONSTER trucks, and shredded apart by vicious lions.

BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT GUESSS WHATT!

ANDDDD The Monster Trucks looked a little more like this...

This Book was UNPREDICTABLE, YES. Cassandra Clare can do that. She's one of my favorite authors for that very reason. My heart WAS(PAST TENSE) crushed, but let me say this THE EPILOGUE IS OUR SAVING GRACE. I have NEVER in my entire life been more grateful for an epilogue.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series with everything in me. Finishing it sucked, but somewhere deep deep (IM TALKING Marianas trench deep) inside me, I know I'm happy for my beloved characters, and that they finished there adventure in a satisfying way.
She finished this series off with a Bang. Sure I felt at times that she could have shortened it, but I'm not complaining because those pages were all I was going to get with my favorite Characters. and let me tell you, the characters were more Fabulous then EVER, dare I say! :) Our ships were in full sail...(at least most of them). AND MY CLACE FEEEELLLSSS WERE EVERYWHERE. There were a few characters that I admired a bit more then others. Izzy WAS PERFECT her sassiness never fails to make me laugh. JACE IS JUST THE BEST THING NEXT TO CHRISTMAS. One of my all time favorite book boyfriends. Simon, oh gosh. I have to say, I give Simon the FREAKING GOLDEN RIBBON OF RIBBONS for being the BESTEST FRIEND clary could EVER ask for. Simon is so Selfless, and I cant think of Simon without knowing that Clary is right next to him. And the beautiful thing is we all know Simon loved Clary, it was so obvious at the end that he moved on, but still loved Clary in the way that she needed.
Cassandra has been breaking hearts Since City of Bones, but City of Heavenly Fire is where she heals them.
P.S. Thanks For the Final Band name Cassandra ;)

Stay Drunk....on Books,
Steph

The One

The One
By: Kiera Cass
Rating: Five Wine Glasses

I'm going full blow fangirls mode. And I'm going to say it, I'm sorry but.....I can't even. I really just can't even.

Kiera class ended this book spectacularly, and made it everything I could possibly dream of. I really dont think she could have done ANYTHING better. It was that perfect. The characters came full circle, and even the people you thought it would be impossible to love...well you end up loving them all. Maxon was a charming as ever, and my love for him is insurmountable. It will NEVER end. And I will miss him dearly, because he is the thing that book boyfriends are made of. And the way he talks,...*sigh* *swoon* here's a lovely teaser
“You are not the world, but you are everything that makes the world good. Without you, my life would still exist, but that’s all it would manage to do.” ...and now I will say what every girl is saying at this point? I WISH HE WERE REAL. haha, yep, reality sucks big time.
So yeah, I know, what about Aspen, blah blah. I was never a Aspen fan, but at the end of this book I was. His character has come a long way. Aspen was always just talk, and no action in the last books. He steps up, not in the romantic way per say, but in the way that counts. His personality is shown, and you see everything he is through his actions. He grew up, and I personally loved him in this book.
The girls, gosh, I became best friends with the elite. The relationship between the girls in this story is one of the most heart warming, and best things about it. I adored every SINGLE ONE OF THEM. They all added something, and gave off there own flare. I will miss them a lot more then I thought I would at the beginning.
This book turned me into one of the biggest wrecks ever, I ALMOST threw my iPad. Ha, I settles for the table in front of me. (My sister was having the time of her life watching me) I cried, and I cried. My heart was ripped out of my chest multiple time through out this book. And I really though at times "huh, if Maxon were here, he would have a freakin busted lip, and oh America are you that stupid? " (and at times she was).
Now America, you and I were friends right away. Yes, I yelled at you a lot because you're impulsive, and reckless. BUT you did everything with passion, and gosh if these is one thing on this earth that I love almost as much as a package of books at my door step, it is passion. You were a real person, you broke down, and built yourself many times. You had a heart that went out to everyone, even those who didn't really deserve it. I loved being apart of that adventure, more importantly being apart of you.
At the end of every book series a piece of me is lost in that book, and I am incredibly happy to lose a piece of it to this book. I will be sure to visit these lovely unforgettable characters again. Kiera, thank you for taking my heart and pulling it in ever direction, it has been a pleasure.
