The Last Sacrifice

                                                        The Last Sacrifice

                                                          By Richelle Mead
                                                    Rating: Five Wine Glasses

"But Steph his book is like sooo old" yes, I am fully aware how old this book is. BUT I couldn't help myself. This book has to be reviewed (no matter how long ago it was published, which was four years ago). It's just one of those, HOLY CRAP THE FEELS AND ALL THAT JAZZ. Ergo the need to write about it. Oh and I'm just going to tell you first off that there will be SPOILERS!!!! (BUT that shouldn't be a major problem because most of you have read this book) Seeeeeeee, maybe reading an older book has its perks;)
Rose Hathaway is just hand down one of my FAVORITE CHARACTERS IN THE LITERARY WORLD. She's just got this crazy fun vibe to her, and she's so funny to follow around because she's always punching people. I mean who doesn't like girls who just punch people without think about it first. (I'm sure plenty of people are against that tactic) but with rose this tactic worked out pretty much perfectly every time. So yes, I was a fan of the punch now think later. And her snark. My gosh. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE her snark. Lissa might have become queen of the whole freakin vampire world but ROSE IS THE QUEEN OF HUMOR AND SNARK. SHE RULES. Honestly I feel bad for whoever thinks they can out wit/out snark rose. EVERY TIME she gets into some heat argument I'm just like  "It's just not happening buddy, so you can take your wanna be snark and bow down to the queen."

The best part about a series is that you get to see the characters grow. Rose in the beginning was just this big bundle of "I'm tough don't mess with me" and don't get me wrong she will always be that. But now you know just how complex rose is. She's compassionate, she's loyal to a fault, she has flaws just like any person that's half human. Point is, that rose isn't just one thing. She's a bunch of little things, maybe some more than others...ahem snark.
I just want the world to know that I SHIP DIMITRI AND ROSE WITH A BURNING PASSION. Their relationship in this series was done so beautifully and their story is so incredibly tragic and heartwarming . I have been waiting all SIX BOOKS for them to be together. FINALLY I am satisfied.  And I loved how Rose made Dimitri forgive himself at the end. Ugh, gosh. The feels. She made such an adult move I was so surprised. I'm just like "ahh rose, this isn't irrationally, totally not a you move".
But like I said characters grow, and Rose grew so wonderfully. I hope Dimitri and Rose grow old together, and all that mushy stuff.
The last thing I really want to comment on is how much I love her dysfunctional family. My gosh, I love them. Abe is like the icing on the cake. I really think he is the only one who could possibly talk Rose in a battle of wits, and I would totally pay to see that. Her relationship with her mom was rough in the beginning, but they made it work. And like I said even though they really are a totally dysfunctional family they are the best and most entertaining dysfunctional family. Probably the only kind of family I would want on a reality television show. I would watch that all day long.
Richelle Mead really nailed it with this one. She wrapped this series up perfectly. And she stitched my heart back together pretty well. I'm not sure what the future has in store for these lovely character, but "I think it's going to be good" -Rose.

Tear you Apart

Tear You Apart

        By Sarah Cross

(Net galley gave me this ARC for an honest review)

Rating: 2 wine glasses

I'm going to start this review off by saying how much I adore this cover! It's absolutely beautiful, and it goes with the story perfectly. (Snow White and those dang poison apples)

I've always loved fairy tales; in fact I'm a huge fan of Once Upon A Time, Disney stories, and other retellings. I LOVED Kill Me Softly by Sarah Cross. That's what made me want to read Tear You Apart so badly, and when I got the ARC I wanted to pee myself, the excitement was so real. So you can understand why I'm so incredibly upset to say that I couldn't even finish this book, and it took me a good couple hours to really figure out what I didn't like about it. It was just a bunch of little things in the beginning, but there just ended up being one huge problem that I couldn't possibly overlook. I didn't like Viv, and she’s the main character. She was a GREAT side character in Kill Me Softly. And I prefer her to stay a side character. Rude, maybe. But she just wasn't an interesting MC. She's was just this whinny annoying little girl, I honestly don't know what Henley saw in her. She's has very little redeeming quality, so you can understand when I say reading about her and being in her mind was not fun. I feel like 75% of the words that came out of her mouth was her complaining about how awful her life was, or saying something rude. And yes, I know she's cursed, and she deserves to vent and be disappointed that the man she loves is supposed to kill her. I get it, really I do, but it was too much. Viv doesn't remind me of a princess, she belongs on some drama filled reality TV. show

Now Viv wasn't the only thing that irked me in this book, the plot just UGHHHH. "WAIT, STEPHANIE WHAT PLOT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" "The almost NONEXISTENT one?" "Yes, the almost nonexistent plot."  I felt like nothing was planned out in this book, there wasn't enough organization and the plot just jumped off a cliff from the get go. There was so much repetition I was so bored. She just keeps doing the same thing over and over and over and over again. (See how annoying that is.)

Now, this book isn't all bad. Sure I wasn't a fan of it, but I loved Henley, he was so kind and Viv the whiner doesn't deserve to have him. He was one of the only reasons this book gets two wine glasses. I also liked the whole fairy tale aspect; she just didn't execute it well.

There was so much potential and I know Sarah Cross can write, I've read Kill Me Softly. I'm just going to toss this book in the "crap happens sometimes" bucket. I still look forward to seeing what she comes out with. After all this is only her second book.

Ship It Sunday #2

(Sis)

Hey guys! Welcome to the second official Ship It Sunday. For those who haven't seen my first post, I created Ship It Sunday for the purpose of talking about our ships.
Once again, I would imagine that most of us bloggers are very aware of what a ship is, but for the few who don't here’s the definition: ship  (Yes, I got this from Urbandictionary.com, sue me).

N: Short for romantic relationship, popularized in fanfiction circles.

V: To endorse a romantic relationship.

N: I see a 'ship developing between Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

V: I ship Ron/Hermione

Point of Ship It Sunday:

We all have ships. I know I use “I ship it” for just about everything including chips with cheese. I thought that we could have Sunday dedicated to our lovely character ships though. Every Sunday we can talk about different ships, little ships, dying ships, ships we wish existed, and ENORMOUS ships. Point is Ships. I want this to be an interactive post, PLEASE comment on your opinions of the ship! I promise I won’t throw stones at you, even if your opinion is different from mine.  Hell, you might not even ship them! That is perfectly okay! I would love to hear what you have to say! Oh, and there will probably be spoilers in the post, so if you have not read the book that we are talking about that Sunday, please don’t continue reading the post! Go read the book!

For the second Ship It Sunday I pick the unstoppable Jace and Clary from The Mortal Instruments. (Part of the reason I picked them is because the series just ended, and I'm having some withdrawal.) This is my way of dealing with it.

(If you have not read The Mortal Instruments you need to pick yourself up and go buy all six of them, you should have done this yesterday)

My love for Jace and Clary is so incredibly unreal. They have controlled my world for all six books of the series. They are an amazingly dedicated couple, and I have never not shipped them, even when they were "brother and sister" (Sorry, I shipped incest for a while). Hey, you guys all know you shipped incest for those books too, don't deny it.

My ship for them is possibly the biggest ship I have right next to some others.
Jace and Clarys ship:

Just incase you were confused they are the massive ship. That little ship is insignificant and probably wouldn't make it in the world of ships. Oh well, survival of the fittest and all that jazz.

Reasons to ship Clary and Jace:

•    They are such a real couple, they had trials and fights.  They screamed, and kissed and made up. They have gone through the freaking underworld together. I don't know about you but most people don't break up after going through hell together (no pun intended).

•     Clary influenced Jace positively.  Jace can be so crass and impassive sometimes, but when he was with Clary he would realize who he wanted to be, and that was who he was when he was with her.

•    Well once again they kick ass together. And they support each other in there ass kicking, now there's a ship I love.

Reasons not to ship Clary and Jace:

•    NONEXISTENT (not that I'm biased or anything).;)

My song of choice for Clary and Jace would have to be:

 Clarity by Zedd.

Or at least this part of the song.

"If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?

If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"

For so long there love was so insane and unnatural for the first couple of books, but it was always meant to be, and they were always each other's clarity. 💛

Questions: what's your song of choice for Clary and Jace? Do you ship them? What do you think about there ship name Clace? How did you feel about the end of the series? Were you happy with the ships ending?

That ends Ship It Sunday! Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to comment your opinion!

Liebster Award!

This is my first time being nominated for the Liebster award! I’m extremely honored! I was nominated by The Curator Of Knowledge @The Curator of Knowledge

The basic rules:

1.   Link and thank the blogger who nominated you

2.    Answer the question they asked

3.    Pick 11 other bloggers with no more than 200 followers to nominate

4.    Ask them 11 questions and let them know you nominated them

My answers to her questions:

1.    Favorite place to read?

I have this amazingly comfortable swing/hammock chair in my room that I absolutely love. It’s the comfiest chair! I could fall asleep in it.

2.    Favorite food?

Chinese, gosh I freaking LOVE Chinese food. If you bring me Chinese it’s instant love.

3.    If you could go back in time, where would you go?

I would go back to the moments I was smaller and was closer to my cousins before I moved. Those are memories I would love to relive.

4.    Favorite breakfast?

Classic eggs, bacon, and toast/bagel

5.    One thing you wish you did?

I wish I took more risks, but I still have time to be risky so I’m not to worried. ;)

6.    Favorite dessert?

I love mint chocolate chip ice cream. Yum.

7.    Favorite superhero?

This question is so hard to answer, so many heroes. I would have to go with Spiderman; he’s the only thing that has spider in it that I like. J

8.    What kind of shoes do you like the best?

I love wedges, they are soooo fun to wear and they are super comfy so I don’t have to worry about my feet for the night! J

9.    Road trips or air travel?

I would have to say it depends on how far away, if I’m going somewhere decently far, definitely air travel. If it’s like a roadtrip with my friends for a day or two, I would do the road trip. It just depends on the distance and how fast I really need to get there.

10. Are you an indoor or outdoor person?

I am most defiantly an outdoor person. My family is ridiculously active. Hell, I have thanksgiving in a campground with my whole family. It’s pretty sweet.

11. Any advice or tips for other bloggers?

Try to do what’s best for you. We obviously have to keep up on blogging, but if you really need to finished something else because you have other things that need to get done, don’t sweat it. I feel like I have so much stress when it comes to blogging sometimes, and it’s not supposed to always be like that. Have fun, blogging is something I know I like to do. It shouldn’t be forced.

Here are a few awesome nominees:
